Lap Joint flange, is using Collar or steel ring connected the Flange to the pipe end. On the tube end, Flange can move.The steel ring or Collar acts as the sealing surface, the effect of Flange is compaction them.

The Lap Joint Flange is the kind flange which can be moved. It often being used in the water supply and drainage fittings (the most commonly is used on the slip joint).When the goods out of factory,on both ends of the slip joint has a piece of Flange.When the goods out of factory,on both ends of the slip joint has a piece of Flange, can connect directly with the engineering pipeline and the bolt of equipment.

That is the kind of belt loop Flange. Commonly used in pipeline, in that case, bolts can loose the pipeline on both sides, then tighten. Can dismounting the pipeline conveniently. Loose flange also called lap joint flange.
